Wildcats Return to Midwest for Folds of Honor Collegiate

GRAND HAVEN, MICH. — A third tournament in three weeks to start the season awaits Arizona Men’s Golf when they tee off on Monday, Sept. 26 in the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club. The tournament sponsor, Folds of Honor, benefits and supports the families of America’s fallen or disabled military veterans. The event will be hosted by Michigan State and the Golf Coaches Association of American just 150 miles from the site of Arizona’s last tournament, the Fighting Illini Invite.

“It’s an honor to be a part of the inaugural field for this special event,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “Folds of Honor is a tremendous organization, and it will help this tournament be an outstanding college golf environment. With our same lineup from the Fighting Illini Invite back this week, I am looking forward to seeing our guys compete and show some growth and improvement from our week in Illinois.”

The lineup’s upperclassmen are seniors Chase Sienkiewicz and Chaz Aurilia alongside junior Sam Sommerhauser. The freshman tandem of Filip Jakubcik and Zach Pollo will round out the Wildcat lineup in Michigan.

Arizona is one of 18 teams participating in the Folds of Honor Collegiate as well as a trio of service academics in Air Force, Army and Navy. Other participants include a quartet of teams the Wildcats have already faced in its first two events of the season: Clemson, Florida State, Illinois and NC State.

The Cats finished ninth and tied for eighth in the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and Fighting Illini Invite to begin the 2022-23 season with Sienkiewicz and Jakubcik leading the Cats in scoring in each of those events.
