Georgia Tech Leads at Inverness Intercollegiate – Men's Golf — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Toledo, OhioChristo Lamprecht opened with a 4-under-par 67 and has a four-stroke lead in the medal race, and No. 6 Georgia Tech holds a two-stroke lead after round 2 was halted by darkness Monday evening at the Inverness Intercollegiate.

After weather delayed play earlier in the day, the 16 teams each had two or three holes remaining to play in the second round of the 36-hole day when the horn sounds to halt play at 7:10 p.m. Monday. Round 2 will resume at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, and the final round will begin in a shotgun start immediately following. Live streaming coverage will be offered on ESPN+.

The Yellow Jackets held a one-shot lead over Texas Tech after round 1, in which Tech posted a 3-over-par rounds of 287. Tech was 1-under-par for its second round while the Red Raiders played even-par, allowing the Jackets a two-stroke lead when play was suspended.

Lamprecht, a junior from George, South Africa, enters play Tuesday looking for his first collegiate victory in his 23rd career start.

ROUND 1 RECAP – Christo Lamprecht led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a 4-under-par 67 in his first trip around the 7,265-yard, par-71 layout, making bogey on only one hole against five birdies, and was in second place at the end of the round. Connor Howe shot 2-under-par 69, recording four birdies in his first 10 holes before giving a couple of strokes back, and was tied for fifth place.

Freshman Hiroshi Tai shot a 3-over-par 74, and Benjamin Reuter added a 6-over 77 as the Yellow Jackets’ counting scores in a 2-over-par round of 287.

ROUND 2 RECAP – Lamprecht continued his stellar play with a 5-under-par round going with two holes to play, extending his lead in the individual competition to four shots. Tai and Aidan Kramer each stood at level par for the round, while Reuter was 4-over-par. Tai was tied for 15th place individually.

TEAM LEADERBOARD – Sixth-ranked Georgia Tech was 1-under-par for round 2 after posting a 3-over-par 287 in the opening round Monday, taking a two-stroke lead over No. 8 Texas Tech, which was 4-over-par for the morning round and even in the afternoon.

No. 4 Oklahoma holds third place at 6-over-par, followed by Ohio State (+11) and East Tenness State (+13), No. 20 Notre Dame and Louisville (both at +17).
