GRAND HAVEN, MICH. – Saving their best round of the week for the final day of the Folds of Honor Collegiate, Arizona Men’s Golf earned a runner-up finish with a team score of 5-over par. The Wildcats shot 2-under on Wednesday, which was a four-shot improvement from their second round. Senior Chase Sienkiewicz carded Arizona’s best score in the final round of action at 5-under set a course record at American Dunes Golf Club.
“Our elite round today was the product of a great week of preparation and development from our team,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “I am proud of how our lineup competed the entire week and overcame obstacles and adversity. Chase coming out and setting the course record was the ultimate cherry on top. To cap our week in Michigan with great scores today is something we can hang out hats on, and this tournament was a complete effort by our team with a ton of great lessons to take with us moving forward.”
The second-place finish at the Folds of Honor Collegiate marks the second consecutive year Arizona has finished runner-up at a Fall tournament, matching its performance at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational a year ago.
Freshman Filip Jakubcik was the Wildcats’ top individual, finishing in a tie for fifth at 3-under. Sienkiewicz capped his week a stroke behind Jakubcik in a tie for eighth, which was the seventh top-10 finish of his career. Freshman Zach Pollo gave Arizona its third top-30 finisher of the event.
The Cats finished their week in Michigan ranked third in par-3 scoring and second in par-4 scoring as Sienkiewicz retained his sport as the number one player in par-3 scoring with an average of 2.75.
