HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – Led by Camille Boyd’s 1-under par 71, the Washington women’s golf team finished the first round of the Windy City Classic in a tie for sixth place. The second round at Exmoor Country Club was suspended due to darkness, with four of five Huskies still on the course.
Boyd finished round one in a tie for second place with her 71. When play was suspended in the early evening, she was tied for fourth at even par, with six holes yet to play in her second round.
Washington shot a team score of 11-over 299 in the first round, as no teams were under par for the round.
Boyd’s round-one scorecard featured six birdies, a bogie and two double bogies. In her second round, she posted three bogies in her first nine (teeing off of No. 10) and an eagle-3 on No. 1 to get back to even.
Senior Winnie Ng had the second-best round of the day for the Huskies, with a round-one score of 2-over 74, which tied her for 17th place after 18 holes. Kennedy Knox and Carmen Lim both carded a 5-over 77, good for a tie for 39th after round one.
Washington resumes the second round Tuesday morning at 5:30 a.m. PT, with round three to follow directly afterwards.
