Carolina in Second at Windy City Collegiate as Play Suspended – University of South Carolina Athletics

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – No. 4 South Carolina is in second late in round two of the Windy City Collegiate Classic. Play was suspended due to darkness on Monday evening at Exmoor Country Club as teams attemped to play 36 holes today.

Nine of the 15 teams in the field are in the clubhouse in round two.

The Gamecocks opened the first round with a score of 293 (+5). Carolina’s sophomore All-American duo of Hannah Darling and Louise Rydqvvist paced the team in round one. Darling shot 71 (-1) with a team-high six birdies. She closed her round with three-straight red numbers on holes 15 thru 17. Rydqvist shot 72 (E) with four birdies, all coming on the back nine. She had red numbers on four of five holes to start her back nine. Graduate transfer Katherine Muzi shot 74 (+2) and junior Mathilde Claisse shot 76 (+4) as they were the final two counting scores in round one for Carolina.

Darling and Claisse are both even thru 12 holes in round two leading the Gamecocks. Rydqvist is 3-over in round two and freshman Mia Sandtorv Lussand is 5-over to round out the counting scores.

Darling, leader Amari Avvery (-8) of Southern Cal and Hailey Borja (-3) of Michigan are the only players in the 75-women field that are under par.

The second round will resume at 8:30 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday. Live scoring is available via Golfstat.
