PGA Tour winners, losers from the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship

2022 Sanderson Farms Championship

Nobody was a bigger winner this weekend than Mackenzie Hughes.

The 31-year-old Canadian stole the show at the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship, where he claimed his second PGA Tour victory and first since the 2016 RSM Classic via a two-hole playoff with Sepp Straka.

But there were a few other winners and a handful of losers during the PGA Tour’s annual stop at the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi. Here’s who had a weekend to remember and one to forget at the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship.

Winner — Hayden Buckley

The local product from Tupelo High School shot a 7-under 65 in the final round to finish at 10 under and tied for 19th, securing Buckley’s seventh top-25 finish on the PGA Tour.

Winner — Dean Burmester

Burmester had one top-10 finish on the PGA Tour before the Sanderson Farms Championship. That all changed with a strong third round that moved him into the top 10 entering Sunday. He finished with a 67 to finish fourth.

Winner — Garrick Higgo

The three-year pro shot 68 on Sunday to finish third at 15-under. Higgo and Burmester made it two South Africans finishing in the top five.

Loser — Sam Burns

The defending champion had a rocky final two rounds with a 71 Saturday and 70 Sunday. Burns, fresh off his Presidents Cup victory earlier this month, finished tied for 30th at 8-under.
