Virginia Women's Golf | Virginia in Eighth Place When Play Suspended at Windy City Collegiate Classic

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – The No. 5 Virginia women’s golf team was in eighth place when play was suspended due to darkness at the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Highland Park, Ill. The Cavaliers were one of six teams that had completed their opening two rounds of the competition.

UVA posted scores of 14-over 302 and 11-over 299 for an opening day total of 25-over 601. USC led the 15-team field when play was stopped at 4-over 580.

UVA’s top performance on Monday came from junior Jennifer Cleary, who had rounds of 76 and 72 for a 36-hole total of 4-over 148. She was in 13th place at the time play was suspended. UVA’s other scores included a 149 (72-77) from Amanda Sambach, 150 (74, 76) from Celeste Valinho, 155 (80, 75) from Megan Propeck and 156 (80, 76) from Riley Smyth.

The second round will be completed Tuesday morning following by the event’s final round.
