Darling Named SEC Golfer of the Week – University of South Carolina Athletics

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling was tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. It’s the first weekly honor of her impressive young career in Garnet and Black.

Darling earned runner-up medalist honors at the Windy City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 3-4) and helped the team to a runner-up finish as well. She made a late charge in the final yesterday with a bogey free 68 (-1), just one shot behind champion Amari Avery of Southern Cal.

It marked her third career runner-up finish and seventh top-five overall in 13 stroke play starts as a Gamecock. She finished T-5th at the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-14) in another strong, deep field of competition.

Carolina, currently ranked No. 4 in the latest WGCA Coaches Poll, is back in action next week at the Stephens Cup (Oct. 10-12). Golf Channel will provide live TV coverage of the event all three days at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.
