FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Louisville men’s golf team finished 6th overall in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational this week, with a combined score of 24-over-par (295+301+292=888).
Junior Max Kennedy finished in 10th overall and senior Jiri Zuska came in a tie for 11th overall. The two went back-and-forth in scoring, finishing just one stroke apart.
Kennedy shot 1-over-par 217 (74-73-70) with his best round 2-under-par 70.
“I thought I played pretty good today. I made a lot of good putts when I needed to,” said Kennedy following the final round.
“I felt like I stayed a lot more patient today,” said Kennedy. “I didn’t let a lot get in my way. I came back, stayed patient and got a reward in the last hole by birdying it.”
Zuska shot 2-over-par 218 (74-75-69), playing his best in the final round of the tournament.
“Today I played well and scored well so it was good to end the tournament with a good score,” said Zuska.
Zuska and Kennedy tend to score close, as they tied for 28th in the Inverness Intercollegiate last week.
“Max is really good at knowing his tendencies and knowing his golf game well. That’s how he gets a lot out of his game,” Zuska said.
Sebastian Moss finished in a tie for 28th, carding 8-over-par 214. Andrew Tan finished in a tie for 40th (14-over-par 230) and Pierce Grieve came in 56th (25-over-par 241).
The Cardinals will take a couple weeks off before playing in their last tournament of the fall on Oct. 21 in the Williams Cup.
