TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s golf team will return to action Monday morning when it tees off the Illini Women’s Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be contested at the par 72, 6,412-yard Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday at the par 72, 6,166-yard Medinah Country Club – Course No. 2. The teams will compete in a five-count-four, stroke-play format, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT Monday, and 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The Lineup
- The Tide’s lineup includes Benedetta Moresco, Sarah Edwards, Kynadie Adams, Isabella van der Biest and Taylor Kehoe
- Moresco leads the Crimson Tide in both stroke average (72.67) and average vs. par (+0.67)
- In UA’s two tournaments (six rounds), she is a combined 4-over par and boasts three rounds of par or better
- She enters this week’s event having earned 13 top-25 finishes across her past 14 events
- Adams continues to shine her first year with the Tide, and enters with the second-lowest stroke average (74.17), just ahead of Edwards (74.33)
- The duo is close in average vs. par, with Adams ranking second and Edwards third at 2.17 and 2.33, respectively
- Edwards was the Tide’s second-best finisher in the season opener (t35th), while Adams was Alabama’s runner up in the most recent event (28th)
- Kehoe and van der Biest are tied with a 75.50 stroke average and a +3.50 average vs. par
- van der Biest carded the lowest round of the year by any UA golfer with her 3-under par 69 in the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship
- Kehoe is also coming off her best 18-hole score of the year with the 1-under 71 at the same event
Tournament Preview
- The tournament will be played on the renowned Medinah Country Club which is home to three world class golf courses, one of which has hosted various championships and international golf events, including the Ryder Cup (2012), three U.S. Opens (1949, 1975 and 1990), two PGA Championships (1999 and 2006) and three Western Opens (1946, 1962 and 1966).
- The field consists of 15 teams, including seven ranked in the nation’s top 50 and three in the top 25, according to Golfweek.com
