SKOKIE, Ill. – Wisconsin men’s golf will see four Badgers competing as individuals at the Purdue Fall Individual Tournament in West Lafayette, Indiana this Monday, Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Oct. 11. Golfers Graham Moody, Max Schwarz, Ryan Smith and Spencer Turtz will participate at one of the Boilermakers’ home golf course – the Ackerman-Allen Course.
Here are five things you need to know before the men tee off on Monday:
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin finished 11th out of 15 teams at the 2022 Marquette Intercollegiate at the Milwaukee Country Club on October 2-3. The team carded an 874 (288+289+297) to place them at 34 above par. The team was led by Daniel Aas and Cameron Huss who each shot a +10 to T46. Schwarz competed as an individual for the Badgers and finished T74 at 16-over par (76-76-74=226) in his second tournament with UW.
Wisconsin is currently receiving votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll (Sept. 30).
2. The Course: The Ackerman-Allen Course, a Pete Dye design, is an 18-hole, parkland-style, par-72 championship golf course featuring large bent-grass greens, fairways and tees. The layout presents a challenge for golfers of all abilities with rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, white sand bunkers and minimal water hazards.
3. The Tournament: The Purdue Fall individual tournament at the Ackerman-Allen Course will play at a par 72 at 7,275 yards. The tournament will begin on Monday with the first two rounds starting at 8:00 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. Tuesday will conclude the tournament with 18 holes.
4. The Field: The individual Badgers will compete alongside individuals from Ball State, Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa, Little Rock, LSU, Nebraska, North Florida, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Tennessee and VCU.
