Vanderbilt Women's Golf | Vandy Wins Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Vanderbilt won the Ron Moore Intercollegiate with ease Sunday, gaining their first tournament win since the NCAA Franklin Regional in May and first regular-season win since 2019’s Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina.

“What a big weekend for our program and for this team. I couldn’t be more proud of a group of young ladies,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen said. “Winning isn’t easy, but they sure made it look that way.”

The Commodores were dominant all weekend, finishing a tournament record 25-under-par as a team. They cruised to the finish line far ahead of the competition with second-place finisher New Mexico twenty strokes behind the Dores.

“What an incredible team effort,” Allen said. “Having all five starters shoot under par and finish inside the top 10 is amazing.

Natasha Kiel, who notched a 6-under-par total score of 210, led the way for Vanderbilt with a fourth-place finish. Her bogey-free round Sunday was enough to shoot her up the leaderboard to be Vanderbilt’s top performer.

Following Kiel and tied for fifth place were Celina Sattelkau (-5) and Virginie Ding (-5) who both finished with 211 totals. Lynn Lim (-3) tied for seventh place with a total of 213 and Tillie Claggett (-2) rounded out the Commodore lineup as she finished tied for 10.

Tess Davenport, competing as an individual, tied for 57th overall at 9-over-par.

The cold weather did not slow down the blazing-hot Commodores as they led the tournament in almost all statistical categories, including below-par averages on par 4s and par 5s as well as most birdies and eagles.

‘This is a fun group that works really hard and I can’t wait to see how they continue to learn and grow this year,” Allen said.

In their next event, the Commodores will go international Oct. 28-30 to compete in the Battle at the Beach tournament at Club Campestre San Jose in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico.
