» With a final round 296, Michigan posted an 880 54-hole total to finish fifth at the Georgetown Intercollegiate played at Liberty National Golf Club.

» The Wolverines have posted top-five finishes in all three of their fall events.

» For a second straight event, Pier Francesco De Col recorded a career-best performance. With his first career top-five finish (t-5th), De Col’s recorded his first career sub-par 54-hole tally with a career-low 215 (-1).

» De Col opened with back-to-back career-low-tying 70s (-2), which at the time gave him three straight rounds posting the career-best round after closing the Macdonald Cup with a 70.

» With Will Anderson’s tie for 18th (222), Michigan has had two Wolverines among the top 20 in all three fall events.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — With a second straight career-best performance from senior Pier Francesco De Col and two Wolverines among the top 20, the University of Michigan men’s golf team posted an 880 team total today (Tuesday, Oct. 11) to finish fifth at the Georgetown Intercollegiate held at the Liberty National Golf Club. The Wolverines have recorded top-five finishes in all three fall events.

“There were a lot of great things to build on this week but unfortunately a couple of untimely stretches cost us a really good finish,” said U-M head coach Zach Barlow. “We still need to have to use these experiences to get better. It was another tournament where coming down the stretch, we had a chance to win and as a coach of a young team, it shows potential. Now our job is to take that potential and make it into reality. It’s the next step in this program’s progression.”

With De Col posted back-to-back career-low tying 70s (-2) in Monday’s 36-hole day and junior Will Anderson adding a third (70, -2), the Maize and Blue posted team tallies of 287 (-1) and 297 to…
