Purdue Places 3rd at Home Invite


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men’s golf team pieced together another decent round on a tough scoring day to finish third out of 15 teams at the Purdue Fall Invitational, held at the Kampen Course the last two days.
 
Purdue finished the 54-hole event with an 11-over par 875 (287-292-296) to finish in third behind Tennessee (856) and LSU (868). Little Rock was fourth at 881, while Nebraska was fifth at 883.
 
The Boilermakers have now finished in the top five in three of their four events so far this fall and now own a 43-17-0 (.717) head-to-head record so far, including a 9-4-0 record against Big Ten teams.
 
Leading the way again was Herman Sekne, who finished as the runner-up at 4-under par 212 (70-69-73). It marked his third straight top-10 showing of the season and he now has nine career top-10 showings. Sekne has finished in the top 10 in eight of his last 11 events, including top-30 showings in all 11 competitions.
 
Peyton Snoeberger turned in one of his top performances of his career, finishing tied for 12th overall at 7-over par 219 (74-73-72). His final-round 72 was one of just 11 rounds on Tuesday that were even- or under-par. Snoeberger recorded his fifth career top-20 finish and the second-highest placing of his career.
 
Nels Surtani also had a strong tournament, finishing tied for 16th at 5-over par 221 (70-77-74). Surtani’s placing was his second top-20 performance of the season and fourth of his career.
 
Andrew Farraye finished tied for 33rd at 9-over par 225 (73-74-78), while Nick Dentino was tied for 41st at 12-over par 228 (75-76-77).
 
The course played very difficult over the two-day span, playing an average of 75.61 strokes per round, including 76.64 in Tuesday’s final round. Just four birdies were made on No. 18 during the entire tournament and the hole played +0.79 strokes over par.
 
Meanwhile, in the individual tournament played on Ackerman-Allen Course, Kent Hsiao finished tied for fourth at 2-under par 214 (74-69-71). Kentaro Nanayama was tied for 12th at 2-over par 218 (71-72-75). Luke Prall tied for 18th at 5-over par 221 (76-71-74) and Andrew White was tied for 28th at 10-over par 226…
