UCLA Ends Fall Season with 12th-Place Finish at Wolf Pack Classic


RENO, Nev. – The UCLA men’s golf team closed its final tournament of the fall season with a 12th-place finish (+15, 879) out of 12 teams at the Wolf Pack Classic at Hidden Valley Country Club on Tuesday. Sophomore Omar Morales was the Bruins’ top finisher at T-28th with a 2-under 214.
 
New Mexico was the tournament champion at 31-under thanks to a 13-under final round. The Lobos’ Bastien Amat was the tournament medalist at 14-under par. Amat shot a -6, 66 on day three.
 
Morales shot the third sub-70 score of his career in round one with a 3-under 69. It was also his first under-par round of the season.
 
Redshirt junior Alvaro Muller, who competed individually this week, closed the tournament strong with a 3-under 69 featuring six birdies.
 
Freshman Kyle An tied for 42nd at 2-over for the tournament. An shot a 1-over 73 in his first two rounds and finished with an even-par 72 with four birdies. Lincoln Melcher tied for 57th at 6-over (74-72-76). In his second round, Melcher birdied twice and recorded 14 pars.
 
Pablo Ereño tied for 62nd at 9-over (74-73-78). Evan Chien placed 70th at 16-over (77-76-79).
 
Next Up: The Bruins will take a three-and-a-half month break before their first spring competition at the Southwestern Invitational set to begin Jan. 30th in Westlake Village, California.
