TEAM CAPTAINS MAKE THEIR PICKS AHEAD OF ARAMCO TEAM SERIES – NEW YORK

Team Charley Hull

England’s Charley Hull picked fellow countrywoman Dame Laura Davies to be part of her Team at the Aramco Team Series – New York.

The defending champion, who was victorious at Glen Oaks 12 months ago, used her captain’s pick to recruit the legendary golfer who has 87 tournaments wins across the globe including 45 LET titles and 20 LPGA Tour titles.

They will also be joined by Sweden’s Julia Engström – a two-time LET winner and the 2018 LET Rookie of the Year – in the team competition at Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point.

The Aramco Team Series – New York will see an individual 54-hole stroke play tournament take place alongside a 36-hole Team event with each tournament having a prize pool of USD $500,000.

Last year Jessica Korda captained her Team to victory in New York, and she was also triumphant in the team competition at the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande in the summer.

The world number 14 selected fellow American Jillian Hollis to be her captain’s pick and Scotland’s Kylie Henry will be the third professional in the team.

Nelly Korda, who is number four in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, chose Finland’s Noora Komulainen – who was part of her sister’s winning team in Sotogrande – and the duo will also play with France’s Celine Herbin.

Many of the team captains decided to pick players from the same country with Lexi Thompson selecting USA’s Kelly Whaley, Anna Nordqvist stuck with the Swedes choosing Caroline Hedwall as did Johanna Gustavsson with Jessica Karlsson.

Two-time Aramco Team Series – Jeddah winner Emily Kristine Pedersen went with the same tactic and picked LET rookie Smilla Tarning Soenderby, Spain’s Carlota Ciganda with Nuria Iturrioz, Steph Kyriacou selected fellow Aussie Whitney Hillier, and Bronte Law decided upon Annabel Dimmock.
