STARKVILLE– The Golf Dawgs are coming home! Fresh off the heels of back-to-back team victories in the 2022 Mason Rudolph Championship and Blessings Collegiate Invitational, State returns to their home greens for a two-day tournament from the historic Old Waverly Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 17 and Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The annual home event, The Ally, is an event to honor former Mississippi State golfer, Ally McDonald Ewing. During her time at State, McDonald was recognized as an All-American, All-SEC player and set numerous program records. In her four years at State, she racked up five top-10 finishes and only finished one event outside the top 25. The Fulton, Miss. native has represented the program in the LPGA since 2016 and became the first MSU alumni to win an LPGA tour event in 2020 (LPGA Drive On Championship). Throughout her time in the LPGA, Ewing has won three events and has represented the United States twice in the Solheim Cup (2019, 2021). Most recently, Ewing won the 2022 Kroger Queen City Championship and is ranked 34th in the LPGA Rolex and 39th in the CME rankings.
This event features a very talented 11-team field that sports universities from across the country. The No. 3 ranked Bulldogs will be joined by No. 7 Ole Miss, No. 30 SMU, No 42 Alabama, Chattanooga, Illinois, Indiana, James Madison, Mercer, Missouri and Old Dominion.
Mississippi State will roll with the same lineup that won the Mason Rudolph Championship and Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Hannah Levi will take the number one spot in her last home event as a Bulldog. Last time out, Levi secured her 11th career top-15 finish after carding a very effective final round in Fayetteville. On the front nine of the last round, Levi parred seven and added a birdie that allowed State to begin building their lead at the top of the leaderboard. On the back nine, Levi sunk an eagle on 15 to propel State to a double-digit stroke lead over Ole Miss with only three holes left to play. Levi carded a third-round score of 1-under par to finish in a tie for 11th with a three-round score of 223.
