RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State men’s golf wrapped up its annual fall event at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Sunday with the Wolfpack finishing the weekend in a tie for second place alongside Lipscomb in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
Chattanooga claimed the team championship with a three-round team score of 847 (-17). The Mocs’ performance was led by Paul Conroy who tied the Lonnie Poole competitive course record with a score of 62 (-10) on Sunday. Conroy posted an impressive 54-hole score of 206 (-10) throughout the tournament’s entirety.
NC State was led by senior Maximilian Steinlechner who finished in a tie for second place with UNCG’s Nick Lyerly as an individual at 208 (-8) on the weekend. Carter Graf also earned a top-15 finish, following up his Saturday-afternoon 67 (-5) with a round of 75 (+3) on Sunday to put him at 215 (-1) for the tournament. NC State was one of just three teams to have multiple individuals finish under par on the weekend.
Brandon Einstien fired a final-round 71 (-1) on Sunday, finishing the week in a tie for 28th place.
Freshman Joey Lenane had an impressive showing as well for the Wolfpack, using a second-round 69 (-3) sandwiched between rounds of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4) to put himself in a tie for 33rd place.
Rounding out the NC State lineup was Spencer Oxendine who capped his weekend off with a round of four-under par 68 on Sunday to end the tournament in a tie for 50th place.
Four additional golfers competed as individual scores for the Wolfpack, with Ethan Choi leading the way amongst the group at 23rd place with a tournament score of 219 (+3). Jake Wiktor finished the week in a tie for 42nd place and a three-day score of 223 (+7), followed by sophomore Jake Herring posting a 12-over par tournament score of 228. Wrapping up the Wolfpack’s individual roster was Nick Mathews who added a three-day total of 241 (+25).
Next up for the Wolfpack will be the Williams Cup hosted by North Carolina at the Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C. on October 21-23.
