Three Cougs Inside Top-50 after First Round of Sunflower Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Washington State women’s golf team finished the first round of the 2022 Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational with three golfers sitting inside the top-50 on the player leaderboard.

Sophomore Madelyn Gamble carded 7-over; 79 in her first 18-holes and earned a tie for 33rd place heading into round two at the Lawrence Country Club.

Two Cougars finished tied for 43rd place heading into the second round, as freshman Hannah Harrison and sophomore Emily Cadwell shot 8-over; 80 to close out round one. Harrison is one of two Cougars that made their WSU debut, Monday, as freshman Emiko Sverduk opened the first round of her career 9-over; 81.

After battling unseasonably frigid temperatures in the midwest, Washington State ended the first round of the Sunflower Invitational with a team score of 320 (+32). WSU began the second round in a tie for 10th on the team leaderboard but play was suspended due to darkness.
