Leaders After Round One - Stanford University Athletics

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 1 Stanford women’s golf leads the Stanford Intercollegiate following an 8-under 276 Friday at Stanford Golf Course. Sophomore Rose Zhang, with a 5-under 66, leads the tournament. She and teammate Sadie Englemann each posted bogey-free rounds, as Englemann carded a 5-under 67. The Cardinal was one of five teams in the 18-team field under par during the first round.

Only 21 players in the 100-player field finished Friday’s round under par, and three of them were Cardinal, as freshman Megha Ganne (10under 70) joined Zhang and Englemann in that category.

Stanford took advantage of the Par 5s Friday and led the field at 7-under on those holes. The Cardinal was second in Par 4 scoring and tied for third on the Par 3s. Stanford posted 64 pars and 17 birdies during round one, both second-best in the field.

The Cardinal’s entire 10-team roster is competing this weekend, and the group will tee off Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT from the first tee.
