Freshman Mahanth Chirravuri fired a 2-under 70 — his second-best effort this season — to highlight the USC men’s golf team’s second round at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga., on Saturday (Oct. 22).
The Trojans, after a 3-over second round, are now 5-over 581 (290-291), in a tie for 13th. Host Georgia Tech leads at 21-under after 36 holes.
Chirravuri is tied for 23rd at 2-under 140 (72-70). He opened the second round on fire with an eagle on 1 and birdies on 4 and 5. He turned at 3-under and was 2-under after 10, where he finished eight holes later.
Senior Jack Boulger, a day after wrapping the first round with back-to-back eagles, carded a 2-over second round and is tied for 38th at 1-over 145 (71-74).
Junior Krando Nishiba is tied for 50th at 3-over 147 (73-74), his round featuring four birdies, while sophomore Jackson Rivera is tied for 58th at 4-over 148 (75-73). Sophomore Gavin Aurilia is tied for 64th at 6-over 150 (74-76).
The final round is set for Sunday with USC teeing off at 10:15 a.m. ET.
