STANFORD, Calif. – No. 1 Stanford extended its lead with a 3-under 281 on Saturday afternoon during the second day of the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Stanford, which is seeking its second tournament title following a victory at the Carmel Cup to open the fall season, checks in at 11-under through two rounds for a total of 557. The Cardinal owns a seven-stroke lead over San Jose State (564) while third-place Iowa State (568) is even.

Stanford is attempting to defend its home tournament crown, cruising to last year’s Stanford Intercollegiate championship by finishing with a 28-under 824, matching a school record for a 54-hole score.

Also looking to repeat as individual champion is sophomore Rose Zhang, who leads the field at 11-under for a total of 131. Zhang fired a 6-under 65 on Saturday, producing five of her seven birdies on the back nine. Zhang enters Sunday’s final round seven shots clear of three players tied at 4-under.

Junior Sadie Englemann is tied for fifth overall at 3-under, delivering two birdies over her first four holes of the day.

Rounding out the Cardinal’s top-five are Megha Ganne (1-over, 143) in a tie for 22nd, Rachel Heck (2-over, 144) in a tie for 28th and Rebecca Becht (3-over, 145) in a tie for 36th.

The Cardinal’s entire 10-team roster is competing this weekend, as play concludes on Sunday.
