Vols Ascend Up Leaderboard on Day Two at Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The seventh-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team skyrocketed up the leaderboard Saturday at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, shooting a field-best 16-under for the day to rise to second place.

Tennessee is just three strokes out of the lead entering Sunday’s final round. The Vols’ 18-under performance during round two comes after the team shot just 2-under on Friday and sat in 10th place through one round.

After leading the Vols on day one, freshman Caleb Surratt once again paced the Vols on day two in Georgia—shooting 5-under to move into second place heading into the tournament’s final round. At 9-under overall and in sole ownership of second place, Surratt is one shot back from the individual lead entering Sunday.

Through his first 11 collegiate rounds this fall, Surratt has carded nine rounds of par or better.

Tennessee’s best individual score during round two came from redshirt freshman Lance Simpson, who carded a 6-under on Saturday. Simpson’s round stood as the best round of any golfer in the 75-man field during round two.

Simpson is 3-under through two rounds and tied for 20th place.

Just one stroke behind Simpson is redshirt junior Bryce Lewis, who was 3-under on Saturday and now sits at 2-under overall. Lewis, Tennessee’s third golfer inside the top 25 through two rounds, is tied for 23rd place heading into Sunday.

Freshman Evan Woosley-Reed, making his collegiate debut, carded a 2-under round on Saturday to give the Vols their final counting round. Woosley-Reed, tied for 33rd place, is at even par through two rounds.

Redshirt junior Jake Hall shot 8-over on Saturday and is 7-over for the tournament entering Sunday. Hall is tied for 66th place.
