Demon Deacons Set for Final Fall Tournament

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The No. 2 Wake Forest women’s golf team is closing out their fall season at the 20th annual Landfall Tradition in Wilmington this weekend.

The Deacs are coming off a second-place finish at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invite last week and have now finished first or second place in each of their first four fall events.

Wake Forest led all teams in scoring on par fours and was second in scoring on par fives. The team totaled 49 birdies and one eagle from graduate student Emilia Migliaccio, which came on the par-four 18th in the first round.

Migliaccio and senior Lauren Walsh paced the Deacs all week, as they both finished inside the top 5, in a tie for fourth. Migliaccio was second in the field in scoring on par threes and Walsh had the third-most birdies in the field with 13.

Wake Forest went into the final round just two strokes back from Kentucky, two under and four under respectively. Early birdies from Rachel Kuehn, Anne-Sterre den Dunnen and Migliaccio kept the Deacs in contention. Walsh was able to maintain her position with two birdies in her first nine holes as well. Kuehn fired off four birdies over her final nine holes of the day to make up some ground for the team, and Migliaccio recorded two more as well before the day was over.

The Deacs finished one over par as a team to come in second, with three players inside the top 15.
