Illini Set for Fall Finale at Hurricane Invitational


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illini women’s golf is set to compete in The Hurricane Invitational at The Biltmore Golf Course, hosted by University of Miami, to wrap up its fall schedule. The two-day tournament will be played on Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 1.

THE SETTING

The Hurricane Invitational is held at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Fla. The course was designed by architect Donald Ross in 1925 and was updated in 2018. The course will be set up for a par 72 and will play 6,100 yards long.  

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

There will be 12 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament. Monday’s shotgun start begins at 8:30 a.m. CT, featuring 36 holes of continuous play, and Tuesday’s final round has a shotgun start of 8:00 a.m. CT.

THE FIELD

Along with the Illini, the 12-team field for The Hurricane Invitational will include Augusta, BYU, Kent State, Miami, Nebraska, New Mexico, San Diego State, SMU, South Florida, Texas State and UNLV.

ILLINI AT THE HURRICANE INVITATIONAL

This will be the third time that the Illini have competed in the Hurricane Invitational. Illinois finished tied for fifth in 2020 and tied for 10th in the 2015 edition of the event.

Live scoring for the Hurricane Invitational will be available on Golfstat.com. A recap and results will be posted on FightingIllini.com following each day of play.

UP NEXT

The Illini will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 12, where they open their spring slate at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
