Alabama Completes Day One of Action at the Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Alabama women’s golf team finished the opening round of play at the Landfall Tradition Friday, ending the day in 12^th overall with a team score of 5-over par 293.

The Crimson Tide played well throughout a majority of the day, remaining under par as the team approached its final few holes of the first round. However, Alabama combined to shoot six-over par over the final three holes of the day to result in the team’s opening round score.

Second round action will continue Saturday on the par 72, 6,150-yard Country Club of Landfall ­– Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C. The Crimson Tide will tee off Saturday’s second round beginning at 9:09 a.m. CT and will be paired alongside North Carolina and Purdue.

Day One Highlights

• Two Crimson Tide golfers shot par or better on the day, led by Sarah Edwards’ 1-under par 71 and Kynadie Adams following closely behind with an ever par 72
• Edwards is in a tie for 21^st overall while Adams will enter the second round in a tie for 30^th
• Benedetta Moresco is in a tie for 47^th after carding a 2-over 74
• Taylor Kehoe is in a tie for 65^th with a 4-over 76 while Isabella van der Biest is in 91^st (81)

The Field

• No. 9 San Jose (-10, 278) owns a first round lead over No. 2 Wake Forest (-9, 279)
• No. 18 Florida State (-7, 281) is in third followed by No. 25 UCF (-4, 284) and North Carolina State (-3, 285) round out the top five
• The tournament boasts an 18-team field that features 10 teams in ranked in the nation’s top-20, according to Golfstat.com
• No. 39 Alabama is joined by No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 9 San Jose State, No. 11 Duke, No. 18 Florida State, No. 26 UCF, No. 31 North Carolina, No. 33 Michigan, No. 40 Tennessee, Michigan State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Purdue, NC State, Furman and UNCW
