COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will wrap up the fall portion of the season next week in California for the Cal Poly Invitational. The 54-hole event will be played at The Preserve Golf Club in Carmel Valley. The course, which was designed by Tom Fazio and Sandy Tatum, opened in 2000 and is set in a nature preserve on the Monterey Peninsula.

  • Ohio State’s lineup this week will consist of Maxwell Moldovan, Adam Wallin, Jackson Chandler, JonErik Alford and Neal Shipley. Jacob Tarkany will play this week as an individual.
  • The Buckeyes are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Hamptons Intercollegiate earlier this month. This will be their fourth and final event of the fall season.
  • Moldovan has finished in the Top 15 in each of the first three events, including back-to-back Top 5 finishes. He is leading the team with a 70.78 scoring average and was recently named to the Haskins Award Final Fall Watch List. He is the program’s leader in career rounds in the 60s with 28.
  • Adam Wallin has a pair of Top 20s this season and is second on the team with a 73.22 average. He is also tied with Moldovan with 30 birdies over the first three events. Wallin has had just one round above 74 this fall.
  • Chandler played steady in tough conditions at the Hamptons Intercollegiate and finished in a tie for 24th. He opened the fall at the Frederica Cup with rounds of 70-69-70 to tie his career-best event at 7-under par.
  • Shipley transferred in the offseason and has played in each of the first three events of the season. He too enjoyed the best tournament of his career in his Buckeye debut at the Frederica Cup, carding a 6-under 210.
  • Alford will be playing in his 20th career event this week. He posted a 2-under 214 in the season-opening Frederica Cup which was his third career tournament under par.
