Sload Leads Tigers Day One in Mexico


Cabo San Lucas, Mexico – Missouri opened the action at the Battle at the Beach on Friday with two Tigers shooting even or par or better to lead the team during the opening 18 holes.

Graduate Sky Sload carded a one-under 70 during the first round. Her score of 70 is the single-best round by a Tiger in four tournaments this season and Sload’s top score by two strokes this year, topping her 72 at The Ally. Overall, the graduate student sits in 11th place among 90 golfers through 18 holes.

Junior Emily Staples matched her best round of the 2022-23 campaign with an even-par 71 to place 15th overall on the day and second on MU. Senior Sophia Yoemans was third on the team, carding a 75 during the opening round of action.

As a team, Mizzou sits in 15th place through 18 holes, featuring in a field that has 10 top-50 schools in the nation competing in it.

Day two of the Battle of the Beach is set for Saturday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. CT.
