USC Men's Golf Fires Season-Best Second Round At Cal Poly Invitational

USC capped its 36-hole opener of the Cal Poly Invitational at The Preserve with a season-best 11-under effort in the second round on Monday (Oct. 31), providing momentum leading into the final round of the season.

The Trojans are a combined 3-under 573 (296-277), in the red thanks to all five starters going under par in the afternoon lap in Carmel Valley, led by senior Jack Boulger and junior Krando Nishiba.

Troy still has work to do, ninth in the 13-team field, but looking to push forward for a second top 5 of the fall. Northwestern leads at 26-under.

Sophomore Gavin Aurilia is USC’s low overall, tied for 23rd at 2-under 142 (72-70) thanks to his second round under par this season.

Boulger (76-68), Nishiba (75-69) and Jackson Rivera (73-71) are all tied for 29th at par 144.

Boulger’s second round featured four birdies without a bogey for his sixth round under par and team-best fourth round in the 60s. His first round included his team-best fifth eagle on the par 5 8th.

Nishiba’s 69 was a season-best and saw him post three birdies without a blemish. Rivera’s 71 was his fourth round under par this year.

Freshman Mahanth Chirravuri is tied for 46th at 2-over 146 (76-70), his second round his third round under par this fall.

The final round is set for Tuesday, starting at 8:30 a.m.
