KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – Sophomore Caroline Canales recorded her second top-5 finish of the season at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, tying for fourth at 6-under to lead the UCLA women’s golf team. The Bruins finished fifth at 2-over 878 as a team in their final event of the fall season.
No. 1 Stanford won the team title at 18-under 858, defeating runner-up No. 6 Oregon by 10 strokes. Stanford’s Rose Zhang was the tournament medalist at 11-under to par.
Canales shot a 3-under 70 with five birdies to jump two spots on the final day. Canales’ T-4th spot matched the best finish of her collegiate career set in the Bruins’ first tournament of the 2022-23 season at the USF Intercollegiate.
Zoe Antoinette Campos joined Canales in the top 10 with a sixth-place finish at 5-under. Campos shot a 1-over 74 in her third round. Her day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 18th.
Redshirt sophomore Alessia Nobilio bounced back from her 9-over 82 in round two with a 2-under 71. Nobilio finished in a tie for 21st at 4-over to par.
Annabel Wilson saved her best round of the tournament for last with an even-par 73 on day three. Wilson birdied three times to move up six spots in a tie for 45th.
Next Up: The Bruins go into hibernation for the winter and return well rested for the Match in the Desert on Jan. 23, 2023, at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Gold Canyon, Ariz.
