DURHAM – A pair of former Duke women’s golf standouts – Virginia Elena Carta and Miranda Wang – are set to open action in LPGA and Epson Tour Qualifying Tournament Stage II, which will take place Nov. 17-20 at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla.
A field of 178 golfers will compete for the chance to move on to Q-Series that will take place from Nov. 28 through December 11 in Alabama. All golfers will see action in a 72-hole stroke-play format on the Bobcat and Panther Courses this week.
Both Carta and Wang helped lead Duke to the 2019 NCAA Championship in Fayetteville, Ark., which was the seventh overall national title for Blue Devil head coach Dan Brooks. A 2019 Duke graduate, Carta has been playing on the Ladies European Tour this past year, while Wang spent time on the Epson and Women’s All-Pro (WAPT) Tours. Wang, a 2020 Blue Devil graduate, led the WAPT with $39,325 earnings with two victories.
Top players at the end of the week, with a specific number being determined before the start of round one, will move on to Q-Series in for a chance to earn 2023 eligibility on the LPGA Tour. Those who do not advance and complete all 72 holes will earn eligibility for the Epson Tour, the official qualifying tour of the LPGA.
