NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s golf program and head coach Greg Allen officially announced Friday the addition of Ava Merrill to the 2023 signing class.

“I am so pumped to be able to sign a young lady like Ava Merrill. She’s the total package,” Allen said. “She’s a hard worker in everything she does and it shows with her success in the classroom and on the golf course. But the thing I love most about Ava is the type of person she is.

“I believe she will come in here and make an immediate impact on our program.”

From Johns Creek, Georgia, Merrill is an AJGA winner (Rome Junior Classic) and ranks 22nd overall in the 2023 signing class. She was a 2021 Rolex Junior All-American and quarterfinalist at the 2021 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball.

Merrill also finished second at the 2021 AJGA Carolina Trace Junior, third at the 2021 Sung Hyun Park Junior Championship, fourth at the 2021 Mariah Stackhouse Girls Invitational, seventh at the 2021 PING Invitational and eighth at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational in March. In 2020, Merrill won the Chattahoochee Junior Classic and Georgia Club Junior Classic.

Merrill joins Sara Im and Macie Brown who both signed with Vanderbilt in November.
