Washington’s men’s golf season gets underway in earnest at the start of next week as the No. 29-ranked Huskies compete at the Southwestern Invitational, Monday through Wednesday (Jan. 30-Feb. 1) at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.

The tournament, hosted by Pepperdine University, will be played on the Lakes and Oaks courses at North Ranch. The tournament will air on the Golf Channel each day, beginning at 1:00 p.m. PT each day.

“We are really excited to get our spring season started at the Southwestern Invitational,” said UW head coach Alan Murray “This is always a really strong tournament and played on a superb golf course. The field is excellent and the team that wins will beat out some excellent teams.”

The field includes (Golfstat rankings) No. 4 Arizona State, No. 10 Georgia, No. 14 Pepperdine, No. 19 San Diego State, No. 20 Texas, as well as Pac-12 rivals USC and UCLA, among others.

“This is our first tournament for a couple of months for most of the guys,” Murray said. “I anticipate that we won’t be at our best and all the teams will be blowing some cobwebs off, but tournament golf is about being able to score well when you don’t have your best stuff. That is the challenge for our guys this week I believe – if we are not quite on it, can we get it around the course and put good numbers up?”

Here is the lineup with which the Huskies will begin the spring season:

1. Petr Hruby
2. Taehoon Song
3. Bo Peng
4. Teddy Lin
5. Joshua Koo

“The guys have looked good in qualifying and we travel down here in good spirits and really looking forward to the challenge,” Murray concluded. “I know the course was firm and fast last year, but California has been experiencing less-than-normal weather conditions, so seeing how that has changed the golf course from last year will be fun.”

SCHEDULE NOTE: Just this week, the UW added an event to the 2023 season schedule, as the Husky men will now compete at The Prestige at PGA West, Feb. 20-22 in La Quinta, Calif.
