TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 15 Alabama men’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the 2023 John Hayt Intercollegiate. The two-day event is hosted by North Florida and will feature 36 holes on Sunday with the final 18 taking place Monday at the par 72, 6,966-yard Sawgrass Country Club course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
This will be the Tide’s 13th appearance in the Hayt and first since 2019. Alabama has won the event twice, bringing home back-to-back team titles in 2007 and 2008.
The Lineup
- The Crimson Tide’s starting five for the event will consist of Thomas Ponder, Canon Claycomb, Nick Dunlap, Jones Free and Jonathan Griz
- Alabama will be led by trio of Ponder (70.17), Claycomb (70.50) and Dunlap (70.00) – all of which average under 71.00 strokes per round
- Free will compete in his second event of the year, while Griz will be making his third appearance this season in the Tide’s lineup
- Tyler Lipscomb will be competing in the event as an individual
Tournament Preview
- The 14-team field features four teams in the nation’s top 50, headlined by No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 15 Alabama
- Other teams in the field include North Florida, Arkansas, Furman, UT-Chattanooga, FGCU, UCF, UAB, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville, Louisiana Tech, North Texas and Jacksonville State
