Illini Men’s Golf In the Pros | Feb. 6

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – As many as four former Illini are slated to be in action this weekend as the PGA Tour hits one of the sport’s most popular spectator events, and the Korn Ferry Tour travels to South America.

PGA TOUR

Nick Hardy and Thomas Detry, who finished tied for 41st and tied for 37, respectively, at last week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, are among the top alternatives with a shot at competing this week at the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.

The event, known for its raucous crowd, will feature a field of 135 competitors. Hardy and Detry rank near the top of the alternate list in the first and fifth spots, respectively.

Detry enters the week ranked No. 17 on the 2023 Fedex Season Standings, while Hardy ranks inside the top 70 at No. 67. Detry also ranks No 81st in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), while Hardy gives the Illini three alums inside the top 200 at No. 178; Thomas Pieters, who is not scheduled to compete this week on the DP World Tour, is the highest-rated former Illini, currently ranked No. 38.

KORN FERRY TOUR

Brian Campbell and Michael Feagles are again slated to tee off on the Korn Ferry Tour at the Astara Golf Championship at the Country Club de Bogota-Laogs in Bogota, Colombia. Campbell is fresh off of tie for 41st last week at The Panama Championship.
