RIO GRANDE, P.R. – Kent Hsiao led Purdue men’s golf with a 1-under par 71 and Purdue is in ninth place after 18 holes at the Puerto Rico Classic.
The Boilermakers totaled a 1-over par 289 to sit 17 shots behind leader East Tennessee State (-16). Georgia (-9), Wisconsin (-6), Oklahoma (-5) and South Carolina (-4) round out the top five.
The event features eight of the nation’s top-50 ranked teams.
Playing in his first competitive team round, Kent Hsiao leads the Boilermakers at 1-under par 71, good for 19th place. Nels Surtani is tied for 39th at even-par 72, while Herman Sekne and Peyton Snoeberger are tied for 48th at 1-over par 73. Andrew Farraye shot a 2-over par 74 to sit in 55th place.
Purdue will be paired with Tennessee and Ohio State in round two on Monday morning.
