Women’s Golf to Open Spring Slate in Bahamas Monday


BAHAMAS – The Duke women’s golf program will open the 2023 spring slate in the Bahamas on Monday as the Blue Devils compete in the Nexus Collegiate Invitational Feb. 13-15 at the 6,544-yard, par-72 Albany Golf Club.  

Seeing action in the event will be Duke (16), Auburn (22), Arizona State (13), South Carolina (3), LSU (10), Oklahoma State (19), Ole Miss (12), TCU (41), Minnesota and Wake Forest (2).  The field includes eight teams ranked in the top-25 of the latest Golfweek poll.

All teams will play 54 holes with 18 contested each day.  

Duke will field a lineup of senior Erica Shepherd, junior Phoebe Brinker, junior Anne Chen, freshman Andie Smith and sophomore Rylie Heflin.  Senior Megan Furtney will be playing as an individual.  

In the fall, the 15th-ranked Blue Devils registered four top-five finishes out of five events.  Brinker (32) and Shepherd (54) are both ranked in the top-60 of the Golfweek Individual rankings heading into the spring.  

On Monday, Duke will open action at 8:39 a.m., off hole No. 1 along with Arizona State and LSU.  Furtney will tee off at 8:48 a.m., off hole No. 10.
