PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – Sophomore Xin (Cindy) Kou and freshman Catherine Park each posted a one-over round to place USC in the middle of the pact (tied-6th) after the first round of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The Trojans capped off the first round six-over as they sit tied with Texas in sixth. Only a little separates the leaderboard, as Baylor controls the top portion with a team finish of two-under, but in the second place column is Ohio State, Stanford, and San Jose State, as they all posted a two-over first round.
Sophomore Amari Avery and Senior Malia Nam finished two-over for the day. Avery overcame a tough front nine, as she was six-over, but limited the damage with a four-under outing in the back nine.
