Fighting Illini Wrap Up Play at T. Hession Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Illinois women’s golf team ended the Therese Hession Regional Challenge tied for 13th after carding a third round total of 308 (+24) at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

Crystal Wang finished tied for 17th after a final round 76 (+5). It was her ninth-straight Top 20 finish, a streak that stretches back to the Lady Buckeye Invitational on April 15-16, 2022.

Siyan Chen placed tied for 45th after her final round 78 (+7). Isabel Sy and Mattie Frick each placed tied for 61st at +16. Sy turned in a final round 81 (+10) and Frick tallied a third round 76 (+5). Lexanne Halama posted a final round 78 (+7) to finish tied for 70th.

Chen recorded the second-best scoring average on par 3s (3.00, E) and Halama also went second-best on par 5 scoring (4.44, -5).

The Illini recorded the third-best scoring average on par 5s (4.80, -9) over the 54 holes of play and notched a tournament-high three eagles.

Oregon claimed the team title at +6 (858), followed by Stanford (+11), Southern California (+12) and Baylor (+12). Stanford’s Rose Zhang took the individual crown at -6 (207).

The Fighting Illini will be back in action from Feb. 27-28 at the ICON Invitational in Houston.
