Habgood finishes in a tie for fourth at the San Diego State Classic

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Washington State women’s golfer Darcy Habgood opened the spring by posting a top-five finish at the San Diego State Classic, as the fifth-year senior wrapped up the tournament in a tie for fourth after carding 5-over; 221.

Habgood’s performance helped the Cougars finish eighth at the SDSU Classic, as her eagle on her final hole lifted Washington State past BYU on the team leaderboard. WSU ended its first tournament of the spring with a team score of 933 (+69), as the Cougars carded 26-over; 314 in the third round.

Washington State ended the San Diego State Classic with two golfers inside the top-15 on the player leaderboard, as Habgood finished in a tie for fourth while sophomore Madelyn Gamble wrapped up the tournament tied for 11th.

Habgood ended the SDSU Classic by shooting 2-over; 74 to finish the tournament in a tie for fourth on the player leaderboard at 5-over; 221. It is her second top-five finish of the 2022-23 season, while Habgood also matches the best finish of her career which was set at the 2022 GOLFWEEK Red Sky Classic back in September. It is also Habgood’s third career top-five finish with Washington State.

Meanwhile, Gamble finished her first tournament of the spring in a tie for 11th after carding 12-over; 228. The sophomore concluded the SDSU Classic by shooting 2-over; 76 for the third-straight round at The Farms Golf Club.

Habgood and Gamble lead the field in par-5 scoring at the San Diego State Classic, as Habgood shot 3-under, while Gamble carded 2-under on par 5’s. Washington State was one of two teams to collect an eagle at the tournament.

Iowa State captured the team title at the San Diego State Classic by carding 33-over; 897. Georgia’s Caterina Don won the individual title after shooting 216; E.
