Pinthier Fires Arizona's Lowest Score to Cap Week in SoCal

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – No. 15 Arizona Women’s Golf posted its best team score of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Tuesday’s final action, carding a 3-over par in the final round that tied for the second lowest of the day. The Wildcats wrapped up the three-day event with a seventh-place finish at 20-over par after shooting 10-over and 7-over in the first two rounds. Just like the opening round, Arizona was led by sophomore Lilas Pinthier who shot a 1-under round of 70 as one of the few golfers to break par on Tuesday.

“We shot better scores each day of the tournament, which showed our team’s growth and development,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “We did not play our best golf this week, but this was a great competitive environment for our team to experience and learn from. There are plenty of lessons we can take away from this week for our next tournament in two weeks.”

Pinthier tied freshman Julia Misemer as Arizona’s top finisher for the tournament as the tandem finished in a tie for 20th at 5-over. The Cats’ third top-30 finisher for the event was sophomore Carolina Melgrati who ended her week tied for 27th at 7-over par.

It will be coast-to-coast travel for the program as its next tournament will be the Gator Invitational at the home course of the University of Florida, beginning on Saturday, March 4.
