MELBOURNE, Florida — Vanderbilt women’s golf followed up its 282 opening round with a 2-under 286 performance Monday at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Florida.

The Commodores currently sit in eighth place, only one stroke behind seventh-place Clemson, after posting an 8-under 568 total stroke performance in the first two rounds. Third-place Central Florida is ahead of the Dores by seven total strokes heading into the final round.

LSU is in first place at 26-under par.

“We got off to a pretty slow start today and burned a lot of edges,” Vandy head coach Greg Allen said. “Thankfully, the girls showed a lot of patience and hung in there and made some birdies down the stretch.”

Tess Davenport led the Commodores on Monday by carding a 2-under 70 performance that has her currently tied for 27th place. In 20th individually is freshman Tillie Claggett—the best performer on par 3s in the entire field with an average score of 2.50 strokes on them—who finished 1-under on the day after closing out her round with four birdies on the final five holes.

Virginie Ding recorded an even-par round that has her at even on the week. Senior Captain Celina Sattelkau, also at an even-par total after two rounds. She finished with a 1-over 73 today.

Natasha Kiel finished with a 78.

Vanderbilt is in the top in many statistical categories, including top 5 in par 4 averages and number of birdies, after 36 holes.

“If we can get our putters hot, I believe anything can happen Tuesday,” Allen said.

Vandy is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. CT Tuesday alongside Clemson and Michigan. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE and a live stream for the round can be found HERE.
