PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – No. 11 Florida State opened up its season with round one of the Watersound Invitational at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City Beach this Sunday. The Seminoles are currently in sole possession of fourth place after shooting 4-under par to total a 284 for the tournament.

Junior Frederik Kjettrup led the Seminoles with a phenomenal 6-under par 66 and is currently in second place, being only one stroke off the lead. Kjettrup started off the day with a birdie on hole No. 1 followed by two more birdies on the front-nine to shoot a 3-under 33.

Kjettrup continued his bogey free play onto the back-nine, capturing three birdies on his last five holes with two being back-to-back on holes No. 16 and No. 17. This is his second time in the 2022-23 season shooting 6-under, nearing his career low of a 64 (7-under) at the Valspar Collegiate Invite his sophomore season.

Junior Brett Roberts shot in the 60’s for the 28th time in his career, marking Sunday’s 4-under 68 as the eighth time he has shot under par in his junior season.

Although Roberts started off the day with a bogey on hole No. 1, he quickly recovered with three birdies to finish the front-nine at 2-under par. He continued to remain bogey free the rest of the round, carding two birdies on holes No. 14 and No. 16 to finish the round at 4-under par.

Roberts is currently tied for sixth place.

Redshirt junior Cole Anderson enjoyed a spotless front-nine, carding a birdie on the 555-yard par 5 to finish the front-nine at 1-under par. Anderson captured two birdies on the back-nine, although he ended the round with a bogey on hole No. 18 to shoot even-par on the back.

Anderson completes round one tied for seventeenth place.

Junior Gray Albright began his round with an even-par start through his first five holes. Ultimately, he struggled throughout the round and was unable to capture a birdie. Albright is currently tied for 61st place with a 7-over round one finish.

Freshman Luke Clanton had a difficult opening nine to round one, carding two double-bogeys to start off his first four holes. After shooting a 5-over par front-nine, he captured two birdies on the back-nine to finish the round with an 8-over par…
