University of North Carolina freshman Megan Streicher shot 1-under-par 71 today in the final round to finish in a tie for 17th in the Moon Golf Invitational at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Fla.
The Tar Heels posted 2-over 290 in the third round to finish 12th in the 17-team field. LSU won the team title at 30-under 834, nine strokes ahead of runner-up Northwestern. Florida, Auburn and Michigan State rounded out the top five.
Streicher shot rounds of 67-74-71 for a 4-under 212, her best score to par and her fewest strokes in a 54-hole event this season.
Krista Junkkari tied for 27th at 2-under 214 (71-70-73), Crista Izuzquiza shot even par in the final round for the second straight day to tie for 52nd at 2-over 218 (74-72-72) and Kayla Smith tied for 66th at 6-over 222 (79-69-74).
Michigan State’s Leila Raines and Augusta’s Mirabel Ting shared medalist honors at 13-under 203. Raines shot 7-under 65 today and Ting closed with a 68.
The Tar Heels return to competition March 17-19 at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
