Alabama’s Nick Dunlap Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Alabama men’s golfer Nick Dunlap has been recognized by the Southeastern Conference as the Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. Dunlap becomes the first UA golfer to earn the league’s weekly award since March 4, 2020 when Canon Claycomb was selected for the honor.

  • Dunlap helped the 17th-ranked Crimson Tide to a fourth-place finish at the Watersound Invtiational
  • Carded three consecutive sub-par rounds, including two rounds in the 60s, to result in a ninth-place finish at the event
  • Completed the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 7-under par 209 (69-71-69), the second-lowest tournament total this season
  • Finished second out of all golfers in the field in par 5 scoring (-8, 4.33) while earning the third top-10 result of his freshman season
  • With a pair of 69s on the week, Dunlap continues to lead Alabama in rounds in the 60s with nine
