Woosley-Reed Awarded SEC Freshman of the Week

Tennessee freshman men’s golfer Evan Woosley-Reed was named SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Making just the second appearance of his career in the Vols’ lineup, Woosley-Reed tied for eighth place during Tennessee’s first tournament of the spring last week at the Puerto Rico Classic.

The Shelbyville native shot 8-under in total with two under-par rounds, including a 6-under 66 in round three in which he made five birdies and one eagle. Overall, Woosley-Reed tallied 12 birdies for the tournament and provided three counting rounds for the Tennessee lineup.

The true freshman’s performance at the Puerto Rico Classic came on the heels of a third-place finish at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate earlier this month.

Woosley-Reed is the third men’s golfer from Tennessee to be named to an SEC weekly honor for the 2022-23 season, joining Bryce Lewis and Caleb Surratt who were both named SEC Golfer of the Week during the fall.
