The Missouri women’s golf team began competition at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona, on Sunday, competing through 36 holes to card a 592.
The Tigers sit in 13th place in a competitive field through two rounds, scoring a 298 in the opening 18 holes before improving their total by four strokes to a 294 and moving within one shot of Iowa during the second round of action.
Freshman Melanie Walker leads Mizzou with a two-over 146 after the first day of action. The rookie posted a 74 during the first round before responding with an even-par 72 in the afternoon session behind two birdies, 14 pars and just two bogeys.
Junior Emily Staples is just one stroke behind her teammate with a two-round total of 147 (74-73), while freshman Kate Bibby tallied a 148 (73-75).
The final round in Arizona is set for Monday morning with an 9:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
