HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The No. 2 women’s golf team has three players inside the top 20 as the Deacs head into Wednesday’s final round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, hosted by South Carolina.
Wake Forest continues to lead the field in scoring on par-four holes and has the second-most pars in the field with 129 over two rounds. Lauren Walsh has recorded the second-most pars in the individual field with 28 over her two rounds.
Walsh led the Deacs in the second round with three birdies to balance her three bogeys and finish even par for the day and plus-two for the event so far. She enters the final round as the highest-ranked Deac on the leaderboard, in a tie for 14th. Carolina Chacarra had the second-best round of the day, finishing two over after recording a birdie on both her first nine and second nine holes of the day. She sits in a tie for 20th on the individual leaderboard.
Rachel Kuehn is also tied for 20th on the leaderboard after finishing her second round three over par. The senior started the day with a birdie on her very first hole and recorded one more before the turn. A single birdie on the second nine kept her inside the top 20.
Emilia Migliaccio was also three over on the day, with a single birdie among eight pars on her first nine holes. The 2020 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate champion enters the final round in a tie for 28th in the 90-player field. Mimi Rhodes also shot three over par in her second round and is six-over for the event. She enters the final round in a tie for 35th.
Wednesday’s final round will begin with tee times starting at 9:30 a.m. Wake Forest will be going off the first tee in 10-minute intervals beginning at 10:20 a.m. The Deacs will be paired with Vanderbilt and Texas. Live coverage on GOLF Channel will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
