No. 22 Mississippi State Set For Opening Rounds At Desert Mountain


PHOENIX, Ariz. – Mississippi State’s 22nd-ranked men’s golf team is slated to open up the first 36 holes at the Desert Mountain Invitational in Phoenix on Saturday.

The Desert Mountain Golf Club will play as the host site with Michigan as the host school. The tournament will be played on the club’s par 72 7,107-yard Outlaw Course.

The other 14 teams that the Bulldogs will compete against are: Arkansas Little Rock, Central Michigan, DePaul, Illinois State, Lipscomb, Louisiana Monroe, Miami (Ohio), Nebraska, New Mexico State, Santa Clara, South Dakota State, UConn, USC and UTEP.

Graduate Ford Clegg, freshman Garrett Endicott, senior Hunter Logan and graduates Ruan Pretorius and Austin Vukovits will compete as a team for the tournament. Senior William Wann will play as an individual.

Mississippi State will tee off as a team for the first round from the second and third pins at 8:30 a.m. CT. Wann will start at the same time from the 18th tee. The Bulldogs will play continuously into the second round upon completion of the first 18 holes.
