Carolina seeking another strong showing in a good field at the General Hackler Championship this week

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – South Carolina returns to the course this week at the General Hackler Championship. Carolina is joined in the field this week by eight top-50 teams in the latest Golfstat Team Rankings.

No. 6 Auburn, the defending champions, will be the favorites on paper heading into the first 36 holes of the tournament on Monday. Carolina took second at last year’s General Hackler Championship with a 54-hole total of 842 (-22). The Tigers shot 839 (-25) to win.

Three players that competed last year for Carolina in the event are back in the lineup this week. Fifth-year senior Evans Lewis and junior Rafe Reynolds each finished T-21st at 2-under (214). Sophomore Nathan Franks finished T-30th at even par (216). Reynolds is playing the best golf of his career and has back-to-back top-10 finishes. Franks is fresh off a career-best T-2nd finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate, helping the team to its second straight title at the event last week in Aiken at historic Palmetto Golf Club.

Transfer Lansdon Robbins and freshman Zach Adams are in the lineup again as well this week. Freshman Walker Jennings will compete as an individual this week, his second career appearance in Garnet and Black.

Carolina will be paired with host Coastal Carolina for the opening two rounds on Monday. It’ll be a shotgun start for the field at 9 a.m. (ET). The Gamecocks will be off holes one and two. Live scoring will be available all week via Golfstat.
